case study :

A hospital working as panel hospital for ABC Healthcare has an automated system that handles the daily patient registration, consultation, queueing, testing and pharmaceutical mechanisms. A patient needs to register once before acquiring any consultation with the designated doctor. Consultations are happening as emergency or as pre-fixed appointment. Either cases, the doctor needs to consult the patient history. For such a task if the patients recent history exists in the hospital, it will be taken in to consideration, otherwise the hospital systems consultation module integrates with the ABC healthcare headquarter to acquire the patient record from external system. Once the patient is registered or already registered, the need is identified whether it is an emergency issue or the patient is willing to book an appointment with designated doctor. Once the patient identify the needs, the relevant action is performed. If the need is emergency, then the patient is issued a queue number which tells patient when to enter the 24 hour clinic to consult with doctor on duty. If the need is to set an appointment, then the possible time will be discussed with the patient and the appointment is booked for that time. Once the patient has completed the consultation with their doctor, the doctor may suggest some medicines to be taken without undergoing any test or medicines after undergoing the desired test. If the test is required, the patient proceed to the laboratory and give their sample for test provided the insurance claim is accepted. Once the test result is issued, the patient takes the prescription of medicine from the doctor and proceed to pharmacy. The pharmacy will give the patient medicine and charge the patient according to insurance claim.
