"Research question: How does using the antecedent strategy of priming affect a client's tantrum behavior when transitioning from a preferred to a non-preferred task.

One of the challenges I may face in designing this research is conducting preference assessment for my client to ensure the work that he will be transitioning to is not a preferred task. Some clients may start not liking a task but can end up enjoying it after repeatedly doing the task. This may not give me accurate since the transitions need to be from preferred to non-preferred activities. Ways that I can overcome this is to do interviews with parents and teachers of the clients to confirm non-preferred task by conducting these interviews and the preference assessment I can ensure that I know exactly what to present as a non-preferred task. Another challenge that I may face with this research is making sure that are no other variables that can affect the behavior of the client. Making sure that the research has high internal validity and experimental control. The way that I can overcome these challenges is to control environmental variables that may affect the data. I can run practice trials to if allows to see what can affect the behavior of the clients. Since the sessions are usually in the home setting, to keep it more controlled I can maybe run sessions in a clinical setting, but this may affect the client's behavior because of the change of setting. The solution that I thought of for this challenge is maybe start doing sessions in a clinical setting so the client gets used to the clinical so I can take baseline, or I can just keep the sessions in the home in a natural environment setting. These are a few but not all of the challenges that I may face in my research."
