Case Study :

1. You provide social work services in a shelter program for persons dually diagnosed with substance use disorders and mental illness. Your daily involvement with the clients involves individual meetings, group services, and community integration activities. Recently, one of the men in the program has begun to spend extra time at your office door "chatting" with you about the weather, politics, national news, family, etc. Today he arrives with a gift for youa basket full of fresh-baked goods from the local bakery he knows you like. He proudly presentsthe gift to you saying he appreciates the way you have made him feel so much better about himself.
