Intravenous (Adults and Children >1 mo): 15-18 mg/kg in a single or divided dose, maximum loading dose 20 mg/kg.

Katie is a 6-month-old infant who was admitted to the hospital in status epilepticus. She weighs 7 kg. To control the seizures, she has been given 2 doses of Valium (diazepam) 2 mg IV push. She received these doses at 8AM and 10AM.It is now 1 PM. The physician has ordered an additional 1 mg dose.
