Use the standard heats of formation of CO(g) and steam (i.e., H2O(g) ) from the Appendix of your lecture outline in this question. Calculate (a) the rxnH of the reaction: H2O(g)+C(s)CO(g)+H2 (g) use the Hess's law, assume it is temperature-independent, and (b) the proportions by volume, of air and steam which, if passed into a mass of coke (i.e., C(s)) at about 1000C, will maintain a constant temperature with the following assumptions: a. Both reactions of coke with air and steam lead to the same products (i.e., CO(g),H2(g)). b. 20% enthalpic loss in the reaction with oxygen in air. c. The % of O2(g) in air is about 20% by volume. d. All the gases involved are ideal gases, including steam. Hint: For a system to maintain the temperature at constant pressure, qp=0. That is, no heat flow
