Using Strings Use Arrays Use Methods Some syntax that may help (that you may or may not need): To create an array (of integers for example of size 10): int[] arr = new arr[10]; To create an array where you know the values (e.g.,5 ints): int [] arr = {1,2,3,4,5); The length of an array (called arr) is arr.length: You can also look up the String class in java's API (https://docs.oracle.com/javase/9/docs/api/index.html?overview-summary.html] Write a program that uses a Scanner object to read in a String. The program will then output the following on different lines: The number of characters in the String The first, middle and last character (note, if it is a space then it would look like nothing printed to screen). Hint: the middle character is the length of the String divided by 2 The number of non-vowels (either upper or lower) in the word (hint-it may be easier to check that the character isnt a vowel a.e.co.u) Example Sample Input (a String) Sample Output (prints number of characters, the first and middle and last character and the number of non-vowels) Welcome to Dalhousie!
