Amy found that her businesss trial balance at 31 December 2020 did not
balance. Accordingly, a suspense account was set up.
After a thorough inspection of her records the following three errors were
discovered:
i. Bank charges 75 entered in the cash book have not been posted to
the bank charges account.
ii. A payment of 94 for petrol (for the businesss delivery van) had been
entered on the debit side of the motor expenses account as 49.
iii. A cheque received for 260 rental income had been correctly recorded
in the cash book debited to the rent expense account.
Once these errors were corrected by Amy, the suspense account balance was
cleared to zero.
What must have been the balance on the suspense account at 31 December
2020 before the errors were corrected? (Make sure you also indicate whether
this balance was a debit or credit balance).
