Vygotsky's concept of the Zone of Proximal Development explains what a child can do with help, and what a child can learn to do with help from the parent or caregiver. In the concept, proximal refers to the skills that the child is close to learning. It is the area between what a child has already mastered and what he/she can master, with help (Mcleod, 2023)
