water park ride slope for
(i) age6 to 12
(ii) over age12
Unit 1 Assignment: Create Your Own Water Park You have learnt about Polynomial Equations in Unit 1, and now, you will use the knowledge to design water park rides for the appropriate age group. In this assignment, you will need to make a slideshow and present your finding and conclusion leading to your design. When you are ready to present, please upload the slide show to the appropriate dropbox, in PDF format, and contact your instructor. You may present through online meeting or in-person if you are able to visit the school. Your presentation should range from 10-15mins. Weighting: 10% Apply your knowledge of polynomial functions to create designs for water park ride appropriate for two of the following age groups: Under 6 years old Ages 6-12 Over age 12 1. Sketch a graph representing the height versus horizontal distance for each ride. Be creative, do not make a straight boring ride. (Minimum 3rd degree function) . . . . 2. Describe each ride and explain why it is appropriate for the age group. You may need some research, but this is not the focus point of this assignment. Compare the two rides you designed in term of rate of change, how is the ride safe and fun for the specific age group. 3. Model a polynomial equation for each ride. Demonstrate how the graph and shape of each equation represent the ride. Find the equation for the graph you drew in step one. What's the appropriate domain & range? 4. Put everything together in a slideshow and present!
