We are asked to conduct a statistical analysis of a dataset resulted from a user study and to present our study and findings in the form of a report.

The report will be assessed according to how well you are able to

describe the dataset and formulate research objectives, (4 marks)

analyse the data and interpret the results of statistical analysis, and (8 marks)

visualise the research findings of data analysis. (8 marks)

Provide a statistical analysis of the given below dataset to determine what the data tells you about the user study and should visualise your research findings of data analysis in a way that allows a reader to understand your study. You are free to use any software package to conduct you study and generate visualisations.

1. The dataset

A user study was conducted to investigate the difference in usability between different tablet computer prototypes (i.e., referred to as T1, T2, T3, T4, and T5). A number of participants were recruited to assess the prototypes. Usability was measured with questionnaires, using the following method: each participant was asked to rate all prototypes one by one, using a scale ranged from 0 (poor usability) to 100 (excellent usability). The dataset is given as below. Provide the study entirely on the dataset provided.

The report should be clear and concise. The writing should be brief and to the point. A suggested structure for report is shown below.

Introduction: should provide a context for the work, a brief description of the dataset and the formulation of research aims and objectives.

Data analysis: should consist of one or more sub-sections on a statistical analysis of the data. You should formulate your research questions, describe the methods and procedure of statistical tests and discuss the results of these tests. The titles of these sub-sections should reflect what the sections contain.

Visualisation of findings: should consist of one or more instances on the findings of the data analysis. You should include accurate and informative axis labels and titles. The captions should provide sufficient information to the readers without referring to the related text in the report. [References are not required for the report.]
