We are interested in whether the colour of someone's car influences how many parking ticketsthey get. Our research question is whether people who drive blue cars get a different amount ofparking tickets than people who drive red cars. Two groups of drivers, one group drives blue carsand the other group drives red cars, were asked how many parking tickets they had received inthe last month (between 0 and 10). These are their responses:
Drivers of Blue Cars: 3,5,3,1,9,9,1,1,7.6.7.4.4.3.1.3.0.6.9.6
Drivers of red cars: 3,5,8,8,8,1,,4,2,5,1
a) Based on this raw data, make a table that shows the distributions of absolute frequency, relative frequency, and cumulative frequency for each group. The table should show data in away that is meaningful to the research question.
b) In comparing the frequency distributions of blue and red car drivers to see if they are different, would you compare the absolute frequencies or the relative frequencies? Explain your reasoning.
c) What type of graph would you use to represent the comparison above? What variable wouldbe on the X-axis? What variable would be on the Y-axis?
