We began this week with discussions about the ban on felon voting in certain states while either incarcerated, on probation, or parole. We will continue with a discussion about some other rights that may be not only limited, but completely eliminated for felons - gun rights. In D.C. v Heller, the late Justice Antonin Scalia discussed how many laws have been erected that have expanded upon many of the ideas in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. We will continue by examining limiting the ownership of firearms by people even before they have comitted those crimes, called "red flag laws".

A. Discuss the Constitutionality of banning firearms from felons - what is this ban based upon?
