We have already discovered some obstacles that search engines may encounter. As it turns out, sometimes more specific and technical terminology can create even greater difficulties for search engines. Mathematicians use LaTeX as their premier version of Microsoft Word when typing mathematical papers. In such a paper, you might find a controlled not symbol, which appears as two concentric circles with an addition sign inscribed in the innermost circle. In Google, search for the LaTeX command to build the controlled not symbol by typing LaTeX controlled not. Review the first page of results only. How many search results do you find that are irrelevant to the desired search? Which result is most out of place in this search? Do any of the search results yield our desired search? Note: If you can design a better search algorithm to return hard to find searches, you might be sitting on the next multi-billion dollar company!
