We know all of the traditional methods to recruit and ultimately hire new workers. The traditional methods still work fine. There are some new, somewhat radical, approaches to hiring new workers. These include: Reality TV Method of Hiring (and eliminating prospects). You have applicants compete in contests, and simulations, and eliminate each one until you have the last one remaining. The challenges are fully job-related and based on the job description. Gamification methods for hiring (Let them play simulated games). You have applicants complete in a game (i.e., run a digital restaurant for applicants for a restaurant manager position). Gamification can also include simply publicly keeping 'score' and showing these to applicants at each stage of the process. The games are fun and interesting, and job related, and the scoring determines who gets job offers. "Geek" model for hiring new workers (hire those who express a geeky love for the product). You go to festivals, or conferences or customer lists and see who the biggest user of your product is...and hire them. You may find them at conventions or social media, or other places where the 'geeks' can be found who may have an association with your company. Pop-Up Ad model. Many companies now use your cell phone's location to send you pop-up ads when you are near their facilities to tell you how great it is to apply. The goal is to target local workers who may be tired of a commute, or if you geo-cache well, you can learn thing about them and put that info on the pop-up ad. For example, pop up ad at a mall "Instead of shopping for shoes you can be wearing shoes in your cool job at ...". AI: Why think when you can rely on an AI program that chooses workers for you. There are many possible ways where AI can scrub through social media or use its own rules to decide who is qualified or not. You trust it and let it rank order candidates. Chose two of these new methods and provide an analysis that includes: a) Describe the method. b) Describe the benefits of using this method. c) Describe the downfalls of using this method d) Try proposing a NEW method for 2022/23 that is radically different than what we currently use.
