Forecasts of snowstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding usually trigger waves of consumer stockpiling. And, it is not just toilet paper and Lysol. Stockpiled items can include gasoline, bottled water, and even cash. Some of these manufacturing firms know to expect stockpiling when a triggering event is forecast. How do they prepare? Other firms, like the Reckitt Benckiser Group (makers of Lysol) may not have a clue that stockpiling is about to occur. When it does, how do they react?
