The selection of color for a brand's logo, ad, and general marketing use is very important. Making sure the brand's colors are reproduced consistently across different mediums is also very important. Many brands use Style Guides or Brand Books to guide employees and outside vendors in creating consistent-looking pieces.

Read through "How to use colors in marketing and advertising" via 99designs (

  1. Do a quick Google search and find a brand's advertisement. Share this ad with us. You can copy it in the forum or link to it.
  2. What are the dominant colors?
  3. Review other ads from this brand, are the colors consistent across the brand?
  4. What about the brand's social channels, what colors does the brand use (same/different)?
  5. Explain why you believe they choose these colors
  6. If you were to design a personal brand logo what colors would you use and why?
