IMPROVE-CONTROLPHASE

1. Situation:Basedonthebrainstormingconductedwithyourteam,youdecidethatthebestsolutiontoeliminatethe issueofdefectivelaptopsistomanufacturetheboltsin-houseusingtheplasticinjectionmoldingprocessusedtomanufacturethestandoffs.Thissolutionhasmanymerits,notleastofwhichwillbetheabilityofMicro-Tektocontinuallymonitor theproductionprocess.Additionally, sinceplasticis non-conducting, there isa greatlyreducedchanceoflaptopdefectscausedbygrounding.

Now,whilethismaysoundlikeagreatsolution,youhavenoguaranteethatitwillworkthewayyouthinkitshould.Theonlywaytoensuretheviabilityofyoursolutionistotestit.Accordingly,youdecidetoplanandexecuteapilottest foryourproposedsolution.Sincethisisapilot,itwillbeexecutedonasmallscaleandyouwillneedtodeterminewhowillbeinvolvedinthepilot,whatyouwillbetesting,andwhenandhowthetestwillbeexecuted.

Workinginconcertwithyourteam,yourunyourpilotandreceivetherequestedinformationfromtheBigBoxretailer assistingyouwiththepilot.Nowyouneedtorunsomeanalysistodetermineifthechangesyoumadetotheprocesshave made a statistically significant impact.
