Wells Fargo human resources department and committee clearly failed to fulfil their duties. According to the WF HR Committee Charter, some of their functions were to oversee company culture and code of conduct. Yet, neither the code of conduct was enforced, nor the culture was supported. On the instances when employees reported harassment or acted on WF pressuring them into opening unauthorized accounts via ethics hotline or an email to human resources, they were fired a few days later. Moreover, according to the article, HR department provided business units with tips on creating false charges on employees to cover up real reasons for discharging them from the job (Gujarathi & Barua 12).
