Response: Our textbook references a journal article by Scott Dow from Loyola University in Chicago. The article mentions several methods for retaining key employees and lists the percentage of companies from the study that use the method. Some of the methods mentioned include:

Pay above labor market - the market is becoming very competitive. Without competitive wages it would he challenging to retain those key employees. Provide mentors for key employees- a mentor doesn't have to know your job but is still able to help you. Provide rich benefit packages- This consists for retirement, health insurance, vacation time, etc. Flexible schedule or telecommuting- This is important for all generations of workers but especially those nearing retirement.
