What are some errors in this text citation?
Living in a society heavily reliant on energy sources should be a motivating factor to researching alternative energy sources, however the lack of awareness on this topic has many people underestimating its importance.Although, more and more issues relative to energy is being presented in our media, solutions are being disregarded. When we don't have the financial support necessary forresearchwe settle for the current path were on, neglecting potential gains and even worse possible losses.Additional government funding for alternative sources would permit positive changes in our environment and allow morelong termfinancial benefits.Energy and its essentiality to humanity is an issue that needs to become more apparent in everyindividual'slife andit is only through this consciousness that we can make a difference. One of the most popular is the theory of energy in relation to matter; the formula founded by the great Albert Einstein E-MC2 or more popularly known as the "symbol of Einstein's genius."(Einstein's Equation of Life and Death.) Like Einstein, Thomas Edison was also a researcher who contributed greatly to the study of energy.Aside from the light bulb, he also invented a different form of energy which innovated how we brought light to the dark. These are just two of the many researchers whose contribution in research allowed us to explore alternate energy sources.Increase funding would allow more researchers the opportunity to accomplish major historic changes by means of exploring alternative energy sources. These past contributions have served positively in our society and like RichardStengelstated" Wehope that Edison's story might not only stimulate innovation but also inspire more young Americans to study science and engineering" (Stengel, Richard. "The Inventor.")
The scarcity and expense of oil/fuel is becoming more notable and is being brought into light by our social media.A recent report shows that"Today,Earth still contains about a trillion barrels of proven reserves. In rough numbers, and at today's rates of use, that amount would be about enough for 30 more years of consumption."(Robert Gramling.Blowout in the Gulf). We should also take into account the areas that use more energy sources, "the more affluent a society is, the more energy it uses"(Michaelides7 ).Just using my own personalexperienceI can note a great difference. When I first started driving avehicleI was 16, purchasing fuel at that time was under a dollar per gallon. Presently, I spend a little under four dollars a gallon. This rate of change is only within aten yearspan. In a mathematical standpoint that's an inflation rate of four-hundred percent within the time frame mentioned above.Just using the simple math allocated from my experience demonstrates how important it is for us to start looking at other forms. The importance of funding research in energy alternatives is essential. Our resources needed for present day energy will eventually become depleted. That concept in itself should force us to prioritize this matter by increasing the funding budget in research of alternative energy sources.
We tend to believe that monetary investments should only be targeted to events that cause harm to the planet, rather than ones that prevent harm because of the immediate financial benefitsas opposedtolongterm ones.By choosing current benefits over potentialoneswe overlook the obligation we have to our present and future society. This lack of concern for the future can have its serious implications.Once we fill the places of the older generation, our economic security will be placed in the hands of the younger generation who will be following our same money consuming energy source cycle.Plans for retirement might not even be existent because of the predicted economic status. Aside from the financial destruction our current energy source will cause, there are ethical issues that are being neglected. The damage control and overall effects on humanity should be discussed and included in our business model.Lack of research and funding for alternative energy sources may take a toll on the Unite States economy."The U.S. is in danger of losing its pre-eminence in science and technology.American investment in research and development has not increased as a percentage of GDP since the mid-1980s, while the government's share has been declining."(Stengel,Richard.TheInventor.)
My position is this matter has an ethical standpoint.Increased funding focused on finding energy sources, is beneficial to us because it preserves limited essential resources.Specific political representatives as well as corporate leaders share my same opinion.Forexampleduring President Obama's campaign I recall one of his promissory policies was to increase funding in alternate energy research.People's magazine also featured the well-known entrepreneur by the name of Warren Buffet discussing this topic. He mentioned the importance of investing in our future, especially, in the area of alternative energy. He discussed both the ethical stand point versus the financial one.
Researching other forms of energy allows opportunity for improvements in present sources. Electric cars have become a tangible reality that many would have never imagined.A vehicle with the ability to be powered up by water solely isanother unimaginable discovery. BMW has also taken part in exposing the importance of this topic.Their newest creation is to "make internal-combustion engines that run on hydrogen one way that global warming might be reduced is by powering cars with something that does not release carbon dioxide when it is burned."(The Economist) Solar energy has also found very promising results in so many broad forms of technology.Solar energy allows homes, cars, pools, electronic devices, lights, and etc. to be powered up.That form of energy has had very positive results to our environment and resources.Present fuel powered cars consume fewer resources, as a result, of the data gathered from experiments researched in energy. I remember a car getting 25mpg was a lot and now we have cars that get 41mpg and more.I believe continuing research in different energy sources will be an ongoing part of our evolution in technology, as long as, we still prioritize the financial subsidynecessary.Itis our responsibility to continue to explore alternative energy sources.Oil is one of the major and most common energy resources today. The energy sources we have now won't last forever, and most of our sources now create major negative effects to our planet like pollution.Oils spills such as BP's current one, and excessive air toxins are common news that we become aware of because of present day energy sources.Consciousness on the importance of prioritized funding for research in alternative sources of energy has not been enforced.By creatingawarenesswe are opening the door to solutions that will bring abundant positive outcomes.Funding for this topic will not only bring financial benefits but humanitarian ones as well.
