Part I: Dropping an Object 1. Find a location where you have at least 2 m of distance for the object to fall. Higher is better. . Measure a distance of at least 1 meter. Drop the object and time how long it takes to hit the ground/floor. (This is where a partner will be very helpful. One person to drop and one to time.) Repeat for a total of 5 trials. Record your data in the data sheet. Change the height and repeat steps 2 3. Try to get at least 50 cm from the previous height. . Choose another height and repeat steps 2 3. Try to get at least another 50 cm more than the previous height. . Repeat steps 2 3 for two more heights (a total of five heights). 7. Average the time of the five trials for each height and include in the data sheet. 8. Make a graph of distance vs. time for your trials. Use the average time for each height. Find the best fit trendline for your data. Include the equation of the line. This will be Graph 1. 9. Make a graph of distance vs. time2 for your trials. (Again, use the average time.) Find the best fit trendline for your data. Include the equation of the line. This will be graph 2.
