What are your thoughts on this?
Initiative, self-awareness, resilience, and continuous learning are all career readiness challenges in the ever-changing employment market. In addition, talent, technology, globalization, ethics, and diversity filter into the challenge of filling and keeping positions occupied. I feel the challenge for most companies today is the ability to provide a flexible work environment. According to our text, "45% of millennials rate workplace flexibility higher than pay, and 71% hope co-workers will become a 'second family'" (Uhl-Bien, et al., 2021). There is a huge challenge for management to incorporate a familial feeling with a virtual influence. Technology continues to evolve in making a virtual workplace a reality but there is a large number of individuals who have a preference for face-to-face communication; finding the balance of both is a challenge.
Another challenge is a need to balance the knowledge base and experience of more experienced employees and the up-and-coming younger talent for innovation and longevity of a company. Keeping long-term employees up to date on continuous learning and certifications will help keep the bridge between these different employee groups connected.
