What can I say about this company and the rest of the post?

An example of a natural monopoly to me is Florida Power & Light Company. I live in Florida, and they are the largest supplier of energy in my state. You can not go shopping for an electric company for energy if you don't like the price. The only exception to this is if you decide to go solar but if you live in Florida then most likely you are serviced by Florida Power & Light. At times I wish there were more options but when I lived in a smaller town, they had a different power company and were way more expensive. So, this class has taught me that the size of a natural monopoly directly affects the pricing model. The state of Florida chooses to regulate FP&L because they already have the infrastructure in place and the manpower to address the needs of its customers. If there was an open competition, there would be power lines and grids everywhere and the cost to put this stuff up would be astronomical initially. It isn't ethical if you look at it merely from a capitalist viewpoint but the benefits to customers and the company itself are undeniable. Even though there is a price cap placed on the profit margins they still make a ton of money due to the sheer number of customers they serve.
