Using the numbers provided, it is difficult to say wether there is any discrimination. The Flow Statistics show the hiring is 50/50 for men and women, thus showing no discrimination at all.Stock statistics do show a much higher rate of women in the cashier position especially using the 4/5 rule.Concentration statistics also show higher rate of women at cashiers, yet the adverse for stock and cleaners.Numbers do not always tell the fill story though.Other than the flow statistics showing the number of applicants to the number hired, other info is needed.
For the concentration stats, the number of applicants for stock and cleaners is needed.Other info that could be useful is did any employees ask to be moved to another position like stock or cleaners.Wether more were men or women or was that number equal as well. Some employers like mine give skills tests to see if the position applied for is the best fit for them.Could this also be an explanation for the Stock Statistics as stock statistics are based on population "interested" in the given position.Has there been complaints against the company for discrimination or a history of job steering based on sex?Discrimination does happen, there is no denying that.I feel though there is more info needed than just 3 statistics.
