What if you are working with a couple in counseling and you see the couple together and individually. The husband confides in you that he has tested positive for AIDs and he has not told his wife. He has known he was HIV+ for the past six months. What would you do? Would you bring the wife into the session and force husband to disclose this information and, if he does not disclose it, then you do? Do you call the wife and tell her what her husband has disclosed? Or, would you do something different? Explain you reply and back it up with guidelines about the ethical expectations of counselors
