What is a good response to the Information below?

Opinion.....

One argument that the official unemployment rate understates true unemployment is that it doesn't distinguish "between people who are unemployed and people who are not in the labor force" (Hubbard p. 283).During times of economic recession, people become discouraged while looking for work and stop all together. This can give the unemployment numbers a false sense of recovery. If people stop applying for work and reporting weekly unemployment wages, BLS won't have any way to determine accurate numbers. Also, the BLS counts part-time work as unemployed while these employs prefer fulltime employment. With regards to the numbers of people unemployed being overstated, economists argue that many people are collecting unemployment benefits without actively seeking a job.In this case, this person is considered "a person who is actually not in the labor force."Secondly, there are instances where people are paid "off the books" for work. These people also collect unemployment, thus inflating the unemployment rate.Something that's important to note currently, there are a number a workers who are furloughed. These furloughed workers collect benefits and are in a holding pattern until their jobs are able to come back once the pandemic subsides.

Andrew Yang, recent democratic candidate, proposed paying everyone a base monthly salary of $1000 a month. This could potentially be an option to keep people afloat while they are between jobs.Another option, which NYS recently implemented, is assist people in finding jobs. Now, unemployed workers can access job postings and get assistance from government employees who can assist them in finding new jobs.

Lastly, while I think it's a good idea for people to acquire an education, I believe the government stepping in to require people to get one in order to earn minimum wage is ridiculous.I think it would have a poor effect on the economy. Not everyone has the desire or ability to return to school, plus numerous jobs are learned while on the job.It wouldn't effect me personally as I have degrees in another field.
