1. What is a project? Why conceptualize an activity as a project? How do you know you need a project? Discuss the why, what, where, when, who, and how of projects.
2. Should you (or employer or team, etc.) pursue every possible project (you better say no)? How do you choose among projects, e.g., how do you determine what needs to be done and how to do it?
3. Define metric. Give examples. Why are metrics important? Which metrics do engineer types generally use? Provide an example of using a metric based on the examples in the chapter.
4. Provide a real example of AND, PERT, CPM, or Gantt (just one of them) as a planning tool. * Grad students are to incorporate this planning tool into "6." listed below.
5. Provide an RPM-like cost-benefit analysis of a situation. *Do not forget to include risks associated with doing things and not doing things (action and inaction) and risks associated with costs and benefits. For example, there will be positive and negative consequences of both buying a new piece of equipment and not buying it, of providing training and not providing it, and of using aluminum vs. steel.
