What is$/$are the reason for using an array over a static variable?

With a variable, you have to know at design time exactly how many elements we have to handle. Variables are more difficult to maintain.

Handling large numbers of variables $($i$.$e$.$ elements$)$ quickly becomes unwieldy.

Variables can only hold certain data types.
