Lion Air Flight 610 - 29 October 2018, Indonesian airline Lion Air was on route to its flight path from SoekarnoHatta International Airport in Jakarta to Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang. The plane crashed into the Java Sea 13 minutes after take-off, killing all 189 passengers and crew on board. Data obtained from the planes Blackbox indicate the pilots were struggling with the inbuilt Manoeuvring Characteristic Augmentation System (MCAS) software Boeing installed. Pilots fought to regain control over the plane from MCAS software for 12 minutes but failed and the plane crashed into the Java Sea.

Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 10 March 2019, several minutes after its departure, Flight 302 crashed as it was on route for a scheduled flight from Adidas Ababa, Ethiopia to Nairobi, Kenya. 157 passengers and crew perished in the crash. The onboard Blackbox indicates a similar issue faced by Lion Air Flight 610. The pilots were struggling with the MCAS software to regain control of the plane. Pilots of Ethiopian Flight 302 were able di disable the MCAS software but were too late. The plane crashed as the crew tried to regain control of the plane.
