Sue had initially confessed her intentions to slay Ryan to her psychiatrist at the University where the psychiatrist had diagnosed Sue with several serious mental disorders and arranged for her to be involuntarily committed, which occurred the next day. However, when Sue was examined, she appeared to be in a stable mental state and was released. The psychiatrist, notified of the release, consulted with her supervisor, Dr. Ima Kweck. Kweck instructed the psychiatrist to take no further action that might result in any additional detention of Sue.

Ryan Carnation was murdered by Sue. Sue was arrested, booked, and charged with murder.
