Question:
What is your view or opinion on the following?
"The role of a performance auditor involves identifying the effectiveness and efficiency of an operation to determine the key drivers of an organization's financial performance. The performance auditor should be able to identify the key metrics that measure the effectiveness/efficiency of an operation such as how productive employees are (on an hourly or salaried basis) as well as the quality of their work. In order to identify these metrics, the performance auditors will work with cross-functional teams within a public organization to collect this baseline data and information. By doing this, a holistic view of the current-state of a public operation can be built.
Another task of the performance auditor's role is to identify the gaps in the current-state of an operation and its desired state so that recommendations can be made to improve and streamline the operation. This can include looking at day-to-day processes, policies, and organization structures that impact the financial performance of the organization and comparing them to the best practices of other organizations within the same industry. The performance auditor should then make recommendations based off of the data they collected and the analyses they have completed in order for management to drive improvements in their respective organizations."
