This is my paper posted above and would like the following critique questions answered in regard to my paper.
At first, I was drawing a blank of an example of improper sampling that I use in my life, thought about what I could write about since I was drawing a blank. Then it hit me, after making a call this week I started to get my thoughts back and focus on what I could write about. In our everyday life, we go through making phone calls to many different businesses whether it's the bank, insurance company, or some sort of customer service, and at the end of every phone call, they will ask you if you could stay on the line and participate in a simple survey about the call that you just made. This is a very good example of convenience sampling, which is the use of something available. They utilize whoever stays on the line to answer their survey. Then I started to wonder, Is there a good amount of people that stay on the line and answer the survey? Probably not. I would think that maybe 75% of people hang up after the phone call, but realistically I wouldn't be able to truly tell since I have no data to do a calculation. I for one am that person who doesn't participate in the surveys, I usually hang up since I have a busy life. This is an example of sampling error, it is very random and unpreventable, the organization isn't at fault for doing the surveys, which would make it proper. Do they have the greater testing strategy? I would say no because they are risking the number of people not taking the survey which then exceeds the probability that they won't be able to get an exact number of individuals who will and give feedback on the level of customer service their employees are giving. I believe that this can be an excellent sampling approach for this kind of study, regardless of the testing mistakes. I also think that businesses that utilize it can get a great number of solutions so they can find out how fulfilled their customers are with the help they are receivingStep by Step Solution
