What specific areas in the workplace could be affected positively by effective diversity management? For most people, the majority of our days are at work and sometimes it can even be a second home. When people are valued and treated correctly at work their work performance increases positively. The specific areas that companies should acknowledge are gender, religion, ethnicity, etc. When companies have a mutual understanding of individual wants and needs, companies will profit from employees who care for the company and will do their best to succeed.

What are some of the negative consequences of increased diversity in an organization?

When people are not used to seeing something that they normally see or what they are used to, they can become threatened because they feel uncomfortable. Companies should be open to race, gender, religion, and ethnicity. Not only just the heads of companies, but the people also that they hire should see the same point of view that the company might have when it comes to diversity. Most companies are mostly offices or corporations that work in groups. For a workspace to become positive for everyone together the employees that the company hires should be diverse and should be able to be treated appropriately. Different negative consequences can also be "Communication, Cultural misunderstandings, Slower decisions, discrimination, and many more" (Patrick Kumar, 2012).

What can an organization do to avoid or deal with these negative consequences if they arise? When people feel valued and heard in their company, that just alone can go a long way. Even though that is just the beginning there are more ways that we can prevent negative consequences. Besides communication, there should be positive feedback while working. Everyone even children loves positive praise, it lets them know that they are doing a good job, on the other hand, you might have employees who might be learning, and giving them negative reinforcement and not showing them how to do things correctly means the company is not giving them the right feedback. Feeling burned out at work can affect work ethics. When you are tired of overdoing things your body and mental state start to give out and that is where problems start to arise in companies. Companies should hire employees when positive attitudes and mindsets as well.
