The zone of indifference is the "range of acceptable tasks employees are willing to do without questioning the rationale of the direction" (Walston, 2017). This concept is that the more trust one has in their employer, the higher the zone of difference. If someone I did not trust or have respect for asked me to complete a task that went above and beyond the duties in my job description, there would be some questioning of the order. On the other hand, if it was someone I truly trusted, I would assume that the task was asked of me for a reason and accept that it is a reasonable ask. This is why it is so important, as a leader, to build that trust and rapport with their employees. Having that trust in your leader will allow the employee to have faith in their decisions and tasks
