Susan and her accountant are trying to determine the best way to allocate the $1,060 monthly cost of this common space (primarily utilities and cleaning cost) between the two product areas so she can more accurately determine the total costs of each product line. Together, they determine that if the pastry side of the business were its only product line, it would use slightly more than half of the space and incur an estimated $720 for this customer area. On the other hand, if the bread and buns were its only product line, it would use nearly half of the space and incur an estimated $530 cost for the space.
