When it comes to my future, by the age of 62, I plan to be full retired with a 401k. I will more than like not take up social security until I reach 67. I plan to utilize my 401K and private savings prior to opting for social security. The advantage to waiting until full retirement age is the ability to still receive benefits but not at the lowest benefit amount contrary to opting in at 62. This could be helpful if I have immediate financial needs or health concerns that require additional support. On the other hand choosing to opt in prior to 70 could cause a reduced benefit amount for the rest of my life. The goal is to be financially set to allow for me to stop working and actually enjoy life
