When teaching my students about thinking traps, one of the many we cover is black and white thinking - that a situation will result in one extreme result or the opposite extreme. Does discipline have to be all gentle-parenting (talking through every situation) or only using corporal punishment to stop unwanted behaviors? Is there middle ground? Can discipline include some of both?
