When we started the class we learned that the 21st century manager must be agile to survive the fluid and dynamic business environment of this century. However, we established that the foundation of management theory is the four functions. So, how do the traditional functions integrate with the modern demands of management, particularly when viewing management from a systems view?

NOTE: For this activity you will beforced to argue for one perspective or the other. (Again, even if you do not actually agree, you must argue for the position you have been assigned!)

If your last name begins with a letter from A-H, you will present arguments for why a systems approach is better suited for modern management than POLC.

If your last names beings with a letter from K-Z, you will present arguments for why POLC is better suited than a systems approach to modern managment.

(Thus, you are taking opposite positions this week, than you did in module 2!)

3. Presenting your respective case (last name A-H: systems is better than POLC; last name K-Z: POLC is better than systemsedge), describing at least three reasons why a systems approach is or is not to be preferred compared to POLC.
