While in-time information will certainly minimize the BWE effect, one of the items that wasn't touch was the fact that manufacturing locally is no longer a common practice. For example, items produce in China or India might arrive late even if the information was share throughout the supply chain. Personally, I believe that those closer to the manufacturing plants will have an advantage over those across the glove, this advantage is due to the proximity to distribution centers and ability to respond expeditiously. Nonetheless, information should be share and managers have the responsibility to disseminate the information and make good decisions with the available information. In the end, the manager's goal should be to increase profitability while minimizing overstock or significantly cut the price in order to dispose of current inventory
