while the electoral college is intended to help the representation of small states relative to large states, it should be noted that states with larger populations still have more electors than small states. The difference is that small state representation is disproportionately sympathetic to small states. A key reason for this relationship is that a states number of electors is determined by its combined total number of member in Congress. While electors cannot be members of Congress each state has a number of electors equal to tis combined House and Senate membership. Because each state gets two senators regardless of population size, this disproportionately favors small states relative to larger states. Does that make sense?
