Who are the Sumerians? What do we know about them? While reading Gilgamesh you should be able to draw a mental sketch of this early civilization and its people. Isolate instances in the text when the Sumerian way of life becomes elucidated. What did these people look like? What did they believe in? What were their living conditions? How much did they know about the world? What kind of values and habits did they have?
