Why do we find equivalent results in terms of relative star arrangement when plotting absolute magnitude v. color index as when we plot luminosity v. temperature? For clarity, absolute magnitude simply refers to the magnitude we would observe a star to be at if placed at a distance of 10 parsecs whereas the apparent magnitudes referred to in the reading simply refer to the magnitude of stars as we observe them to be due to their real distance from us.
