Why would the calculated and observed pH values for a buffer differ? I prepared 0.15 acetate buffer using 1 M acetate acid and 1 M NaOH, then I added 5 mL of 1 M NaOH. The calculated pH was 4.78, however, the observed was 4.63.

The values are supposed to differ, however, I am having trouble explaining the reasoning for this,
