width Optimization Seminar Questions 1. In order to make maple syrup, Mrs. Elliott must boil down the sap in a stainless steel rectangular based evaporator pan which sits exactly on top of a half cylindrical cast iron wood stove (see picture provided). The length of the pan must be at least 10 cm and at most 250 cm long and its width must be exactly double its depth (height). To reduce the amount of boiling time required, the evaporator pan must hold 200 L (i.e. 200 000 cm) of sap. If cast iron is three times more expensive per unit than stainless steel, determine the dimensions of the evaporator pan so that the cost to manufacture the length entire boiling system (i.e. the cast iron base AND evaporator pan- including a lid on the pan) will be minimized. Round your answers to the nearest centimeter. DC
