AfterSteve was paid and scheduled to kill Adam, Will heard that Adam's business was failing. Therefore, Will told Steve that he had changed his mind and no longer wanted Adam murdered. Will proposed paying Steve $5,000 to end the arrangement and requested a $15,000 refund. Steve responded that he was going to kill Adam anyway and keep the $20,000. Will again informed Steve that Will was no longer interested in Adam's murder.

Steve assaulted Adam the next night with intent to kill. Adam resisted vigorously and Steve's life was at risk. In his own defense, Steve abandoned the assault.

Steve was severely injured from Adam's defense and Steve died the next day.
