will reinforce the mechanism for developing a policy and procedure.

Review Oachs & Watters textbook - pages 701, 769-771.

  1. POLICY: explain a policy on employee bulletin board use, taking into account the situation described below.
  2. PROCEDURE: Develop a step by step procedure employees in your department are to follow to get approval to post.

SITUATION:

About three months ago, a large bulletin board was installed on a wall outside the HIM department employee lounge for posting official notices.

Recently employees have started using the board for personal notices such as selling cars, apartments for rent, selling items on behalf of their children's organizations and even personal ads.

While the department director wants staff to use the board for personal notices, it has gotten out of hand. The department director has requested the department supervisor (you) to develop a policy and procedure to limit the posting of notices to those approved by the director. Be specific in outlining personal posting categories that would/would not be acceptable.
