Winners and Losers of Globalisation: Benefits, Inequity: Supporters of globalisation have claimed that private enterprise and free movement of trade (goods, services, capital) has contributed to significant benefits to all countries. It has also enabled efficient allocation of resources and more opportunities for employment, growth, innovation, competitive prices and other benefits for consumers (and society). Taking this forward, globalisation contributes to eradication of 'poverty' is a school of thought. Critics have long argued against this saying that this is nothing but a ploy to get poorer countries to open their economy to a flood of unwanted(perhaps) imports and become the ground for needless exploitation of their resources. Not just that many advanced countries have/had a very tightly controlled import regime and protected environment - Japan, Finland, South Korea to name a few. Add to that, many advanced countries including France have the governments running key industries. (in a sense - protecting them). So, you may well have winners and losers of globalisation. If one looks at the Gini coefficient for many countries, it appears that citizenry at the bottom of the pyramid of most countries are growing relatively poorer.
