How do you feel about the effectiveness of online social activism (hashtag activism) versus "street" or face-to-face activism? Or, are they best used in combination to achieve a goal? 2. Do you have any examples of what you consider to be the "best" use of the power of social media to bring about positive change, raise awareness, bring people together, etc. Why? [This could include something you actually organized] 3. In discussing "deepfakes"/synthetic media, author Nina Schick (Deepfakes: The Coming Infocalypse) claimed, "The technology itself is neutral." In other words, we determine which direction to take, and how to best utilize these new "tools." As seen in the video and reading, what conceins could one have about "deepfakes"/synthetic media? Why? What sort of damage could this technology cause?
