For example, providers with multiple office locations and specialties have a practice management software to manage the patient account and demographics and the medical information is housed with electronic health records that communicates between offices, special sites and other side agencies that can send and receive orders for testing/services. A healthcare provider's needs to be able to pull and write medical information into each encounter. A medical assistant needs access to practice management software, and electronic health records due to duties within the scope of his/her position. An accounts receivable specialist for billing needs full access to the practice management software, insurance carrier portals, and read only access to electronic medical information.
