Many times research is purely correlational in nature, yet we try to attribute causation as an explanation. This discussion board has three components. Be sure to respond to all 3 parts.

1. Look at the following list of relationships and list as many possible explanations about why there is a correlation.
   1. Poverty and drug abuse
   2. Exercise and anxiety
   3. Child abuse and adult mental illness
   4. Capital punishment and murder rates
2. After listing as many explanations as possible, discuss what this has taught you about making attributional statements to purely correlational relationships. What does this mean when you are hearing about research studies, such as those reported on the news?
3. After you have created explanations for the 4 correlations, then create a list of as many correlations that you can think of.
